ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES – In the Itria Valley, between the Mediterranean maquis and the village of Martina Franca stands Masseria Nicola Casavola. Positioned on the south-eastern hills of the Murgia, at 400 meters above sea level, the town of Martina Franca dominates the surrounding territories. Its fascinating style comes from a century-old history and its center is built in a particular baroque style, so unique that it has received its own name. Discover the warmth of Apulian hospitality and experience the slow sweet living that has made the region famous throughout the world.
The masseria we present to you, one of the oldest in the area, is ten kilometers from the baroque buildings of Martina Franca. This traditional Apulian construction, historically related to the cultivation of land and animal breeding, was built in the mid-1700s at the behest of the wealthy livestock trader Nicola Casavola. Subsequently expanded and recently restored, it is now equipped with all modern comforts while maintaining its traditional charm which will make you feel like a true Apulian sharecropper. Masseria Nicola Casavola is inside a 50-hectare agricultural estate, still active and functioning. The large garden of the estate is bordered by the traditional stones and decorated with a refined simplicity that enhances the large spaces and the uniqueness of the environments. The main structure, the internal courtyard and a lovely swimming pool (nearing completion) are for the exclusive use of guests. Ancient tractors, hay bales and centuries-old olive trees adorn the external environments and embellish the path that connects the farm to the church, respecting the traditional agricultural culture. A short distance away, fields of olive trees dominate the area, plants with a primitive charm and reign of the famous Martina Franca donkey. By taking part in the olive harvest or walks on the backs of these animals, you will be able to completely immerse yourself in the identity of this region. The masseria, where the warm white of the lime dominates, has been furnished with various relaxation corners and has a perfectly functioning brick oven. Here you can prepare, or have prepared, traditional dishes of the local cuisine. Its shape and the presence of a small church make this farm the perfect location to host special events such as weddings or ceremonies, fully respecting the privacy and family warmth of the ancient Apulian farms.
The main body of the property is on two levels with classic white walls and vaulted ceilings. On the ground floor there is the living area with open kitchen, living room and service bathroom. The floor is completed by a spacious suite with a bright double bedroom, bathroom with shower and private living room with two sofa beds, perfect for accommodating children. On the upper level, a shared living room leads to the 4 double bedrooms, each with a private bathroom with shower and to the external terrace decorated with outdoor sofas and tables. Outside in the courtyard there are two men’s/women’s service bathrooms. Air conditioning is available in all common living spaces on the ground floor and in the bedrooms.

Naming Martina Franca brings to mind the Baroque style. This architectural style dominates its historic center and is clearly visible in its Piazza Plebiscito with the Basilica of San Martino and the University Palace. In the shadow of the clock tower, the town lives its daily life, with a slow and hospitable rhythm. Walk along Saint Stefano’s door, follow its narrow white streets and sit in one of the restaurants in the center where you can taste delicacies such as orecchiette pasta with sauce or bombette, seasoned with their precious olive oil and accompanied by good wine. Located in the surprising territory of the Itria Valley, near Alberobello and Locorondo, it allows you to see up close the famous trulli, masserie and pajare that populate it. With the Bosco delle Pianelle Regional Nature Reserve and the welcoming beaches a short distance away, Martina Franca is perfect for discovering all the beauties of Apulia region. Not just nature and discovery, the city also organizes events such as the Valle d’Itria Festival and the Patronal Feast of Saint Martino.
