Campania

Campania

Just like a star in one of our rental villas in Campania

When you come to the South, you cry twice: once when you arrive and again when you leave‘. This is a line from a famous film that best sums up the experiences of a trip to Campania. A trip that starts by the sea and continues through towns, villages and islands so full of history, art and folk traditions. Looking at the sunset over the sea from your terrace of your rental villa on the Amalfi coast will take your breath away.

History and Culture

The tour must start in Naples, the region’s capital, with its wonderful Piazza del Plebiscito, the Duomo that houses the Treasure of San Gennaro and the elegant Galleria Umberto I. In the heart of the city you will walk through the colourful Quartieri Spagnoli or along Via San Gregorio Armeno, the famous street of nativity scenes. Just a short distance away, you can visit Pompei and Herculaneum, an archaeological site where the itinerary towards the Mount Vesuvius crater begins. As a UNESCO world heritage site, the Reggia di Caserta is also well worth a visit with its surprising gardens and grandiose apartments. The Amalfi Coast is located in the province of Salerno. You can visit its unique villages that stand and look out to sea and fill up on local craft products: from jewelled sandals in Positano to Vietri ceramics and food and wine products, including Amalfi’s famous limoncello.

THE BEACHES ALONG THE AMALFI COAST

If you rent a seaside villa on the Amalfi Coast, you will be able to get to many beaches and coves on foot! Walk down the characteristic paths or steps that lead to the crystal-clear waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea from the villages.

TRADITIONAL CAMPANIA

In Campania, food represents history, tradition and emotions. This is where the much-imitated Pizza Margherita was invented, the symbol of Italy worldwide, as is the bufalo mozzarella. You must try two classic types of street food, fried pizza and cuoppo, a paper cone filled with all kinds of deep-fried food, including fish and meat and vegetables. Drinking coffee is a true ritual here, that you can taste in your rental villa on the Amalfi Coast or in a bar, accompanied by a superb warm sfogliatella.

WALKING THROUGH THE PATH OF THE GODS

If you are looking for a little adventure after so much eating and relaxation, the Path of the Gods is the place for you! A path full of Mediterranean scrub that crosses the Amalfi Coast, offering breath-taking views.
