ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES – Between Cisternino and Ostuni, in the municipality of the eighteenth-century Ceglie Messapica, lies Trulli dei Gelsomini. The territory of the Itria Valley has been shaped over the centuries by peasants who transformed its appearance. Here trulli and masserie alternate with fields of olive trees and vineyards, and all together outline a unique and magical profile. Originally used as a shelter from the bad weather or as permanent house for agricultural workers, the iconic trullo is Puglia’s most beloved architectural structure. Its name derives from the Greek word trûllos “dome”, and is a type of dry stone construction, cool in summer and warm in winter thanks to the natural thermal insulation of this material.
Formed by the trulli with the typical lamia, which overlooks the private swimming pool, Trulli dei Gelsomini has been entirely renovated in full respect of the original architecture. The estate extends for 18,000 m2 and is bordered by the traditional Apulian stones. Avenues of ornamental hedges and aromatic herb bushes decorate the red earth and frame a relaxation corner covered by a pergola that overlooks a private bowling green. Guests can challenge each other in this game or enjoy a good glass of wine at the table made from an old wine press. To feel immersed in the traditions of this land and experience the warmth of its people, it is possible to request the visit of a real cheesemaker who will teach the secrets of working the hot rennet with a final tasting. Another original experience that can be enjoyed in this property is a show performed by a group of pizzica and taranta dancers in traditional clothes and costumes.
Organized in simple and practical environments, the structure welcomes guests in a small living room with sofas and kitchenette. The beige tone of the fireplace stones and finishes dominates the environment and alternates with sporadic notes of color that add personality to the property. A step and a short corridor lead to the sleeping area of the house. Here there is the main suite consisting of a bathroom with shower, a double bedroom with king size bed and reading corner and a bedroom with a single sofa bed. Continuing, there is a bathroom with shower, a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with shower and a double bedroom. Both bedrooms have direct access to the outside. The adjacent veranda is furnished with a covered sofa area, a dining table, a working wood-burning oven and an equipped kitchen. This spacious living area is perfect for enjoying pleasant moments of conviviality at any time of the day.
Not far away but with an independent entrance there is a small annex. It comprehends a kitchenette, a double bedroom, a bathroom with shower and a bedroom with a French bed perfect for children. Its external area consists of a pleasant covered loggia equipped with sofas and relaxation corners and allows complete privacy and autonomy.
The swimming pool with solarium area and outdoor shower allows the guest to find relief from the Salento heat and entertain the children in the tranquility of the house. There is also a gazebo with sofas, a pergola with a large table and a bar counter with sink in which to prepare cocktails or fresh fruit salads by the pool.

Considered the gastronomic capital of Salento area with its “stacchiodde” and “strascinati”, it is perfect for those who want to immerse themselves in local traditions and charm. The medieval historic center is ramified with narrow streets and white houses that lead to Piazza del Plebiscito with its Clock Tower and the Ducal Castle. Its territory, surrounded by conical trulli and centuries-old olive groves, is populated with karst caves and archaeological areas with remains dating back to the Messapian era.
